The 1313th Krieg Combat Engineers
The “Twice Cursed”
The troopers to the right are my first second at a squad, intended to fill out my kill team rather than as part of an army. They are kind of a halfway point between my earlier scheme and current one, featuring the dark coats and brown pants, but the skulls hadn’t been fully figured out and the basing is very basic on these guys.
I still have the first squad who look almost a different colour from these guys and make the kill team look a bit odd when fielded but I don’t have a photo currently as they were painted circa 2023.
This gallery holds images of my warhammer 40000 Imperial Guard army, the twice cursed 1313th.
The project is my attempt at a “good tabletop” level army, with each squad being intended to be considered a “single piece” rather than each miniature.
This gives me room to vary techniques and learn and improve as I go.
The colour scheme is fairly straightforward. Dark Green Coats, brown pants and weathered black armour. Troopers in gas masks have a skull freehanded on the mask while engineers wear their traditional skull face plates. The eye lenses are a hot pink or magenta
Ursula here is another early attempt at the scheme. Her skull is less detailed than I would make later attempts, but I like how the cloth of her uniform came out and the colurs on the flag.
A subtle detail I added is the beak on the Imperialis badge on her chest.
I want the beaked Imperialis or a winged bird skull to show up here and there throughout the army, to signify a piece of their lore: At some point in the past, the 1313th served alongside the Death Eagles chapter of Space Marines with distinction, and were awarded the use of the chapters badge in their heraldry to represent the ties between them.
This is mostly to try and give them a natural feeling positive relationship with another Imperial force, but I may paint up a detachment of Death Eagles at some point.
